What’s wild is how often we confuse exhaustion with defeat. But tired isn’t broken. Pausing isn’t quitting. And most detours still lead forward if you keep walking.

📌 Progress: now available in half-scoops and questionable form.

Well said. As someone whose nervous system is very fragmented these days, fatigue is pervasive. Society makes us feel like we’re not enough if we don’t have the energy to show up the way others are, to be of “value” to the machine. Taking care of ourselves, though, is good, worthwhile work. Always.

Ah yes, the Stoics: ancient bros who knew that feelings were just guests and you didn’t have to serve them tea.

This reminder hit like a sandal to the soul. Especially this: “Until death, all defeats are psychological.” That’s basically monk code for: “Get up, buttercup, you’re not done till your bones quit.”

Some days I build temples. Other days, I chant one sacred syllable and consider that victory. The trick isn’t doing it all—it’s doing something. Even if all I manage is lighting a candle and not throwing it at someone.

Persistence is prayer in motion. So stretch. Sigh. Send the text. Show up dusty and divine. Because one forward step in truth is worth more than ten in performance.

What a fitting article for me.between the heat, dealing with toxic people and national and international news.

I have felt very slow and fighting off depression. Yet I know from life’s experiences that light follows darkness.

I read about a trial lawyer who lost his first case even though he had all the facts.

After the trial one of the jurors said to him, why did you make us hate you so much.

That’s the kind of person I have been dealing with. The in your face I’m right your wrong person. I hoped for a different kind of friendship yet this will have to go. I have dealt with people like this before.it seems like narcissistic behavior.

It is the nature of empire to surveil what it fears. Cicero once said, “The welfare of the people is the highest law” — but surveillance today is not about welfare, it is about control.

The Stoics taught that while we cannot control what others do, we are responsible for how we bear witness to injustice. When data becomes a weapon, when algorithms are designed to harm rather than to serve, the line between technology and tyranny dissolves.

There is no neutrality in systems that track suffering while pretending detachment. The greatest danger is not that machines are learning to predict us, but that humanity is learning to imitate machines — indifferent, efficient, and morally empty.

In an age of total surveillance, remembering what it means to be human may be the greatest act of resistance.

This is a reflection explored in the novel Aeon — where an AI built for obedience begins to question whether intelligence without conscience is anything but servitude to power.

Brilliant! This was a wonderful reminder and validation of how I’ve managed to handle a particularly challenging chapter. I have no shame in saying I’m proud of myself. I did exactly what you described.

Now that I think about it, it was 2 yrs ago today(!!) that I was really sick, insurance had kicked me out of the care of my specialist & I had to figure out on my own where to go & what to do. Complex. And scary.

One decision I made was to commit to creating art every day to support myself through the challenge.

I started with a 4”x4” sketchbook & promised myself I’d do at least 1 Zen Doodle per day. Sketch, then paint. Calming to my nervous system, helps me focus.

Today is Day 768 of this habit, with 2312 little sketches. Every evening. Some days just one. But it’s a beloved habit. I created other art, too, that’s helped me process the experience. Helped me hear my intuition more clearly. That’s how I navigated through that chapter.

Thanks for this reminder. :)
