I loved that you opened with a reference to a barista. I was that barista at 5 am with a smile on my face for a very long time, and I realized early on that I had the power to make or break someone's day depending on how their morning coffee went. It's funny the lessons you learn when you step back to observe things.
I've had to explain to more than a few people that stoicism isn't the warped idea some present it as out of loathing or bitterness. I have often been discouraged from talking about it in my metaphysical circles because of the online rhetoric around it.
Challenging ourselves in ways we didn't think we should have to is often the most challenging obstacle we have to overcome in our journey. I'm glad to have found you here.
Wow, that’s admirable. And I love that you related. It’s the small things really.
It’s really not. It’s a beautiful philosophy.
Mmh, that’s interesting. But I agree. The crude online conception of it isn’t that appealing but I’m happy I get to curve a great community for us here.
I’m happy we crossed each other’s paths as well Jenny <3 :)
Can "right thinking" about human relations alter the random selection for tribal survival (that may have been humankinds way of evolving for the past 300-400 generations) because technology and communication among peoples is so different now ?
I love this idea! It gives me a new vision of my son, who lies paralyzed in a nursing home after a stroke: he is providing employment for the many aides/ staff who keep the place running! Aha! A vision that makes him active in the game of life instead of a passive victim of a tragedy. I am going to slowly sell this vision to him. Thank. You for this wisdom!
That’s sad. I’m sorry Faith. I get how difficult it can be taking care of your son. But I’m happy you’re keeping a positive attitude and showing your son the same.
With gratitude we appreciate your and every ones work and words.. But when a thief pinches your purse! We have to be patient and wait for better days. Say the supportive bankers of this world. The added protectors of our lives, who keep us safe each day.
I’ve been mindful of the ideas you shared here as I’ve navigated harrowing experiences in our American healthcare system. I’ve seen both the harm and the good done by frontline customer service agents who actually wield loads of power, as I’ve experienced again and again.
Ironically, the situation is significantly better now that I’m on Medicare and not private insurance. It’s been my quiet little personal mission for months now to gush my appreciation for and to agents who are helpful and kind.
I’ve had my moments of being that sick, scared, irritable person on the line; I do all I can now to be kind to them. Feels good.😊
You never know when one of those folks might make all the difference. Recently I had an echocardiogram. The tech was a delightful, warm, empathetic guy who was genuinely interested in my takes of my healthcare experience. It was such a profoundly positive experience that my AFibby heart settled right down and has been calm ever since -a very big deal!
Thanks for your post and the opportunity to reflect on the topic.
Vital lessons! Thank you.
I appreciate you for taking your time to read Jenny <3

Beautifully laid out. I wish world leaders would read this out instead of some of the speeches they do.
These words can dissolve any tough narcissist out there.🔥🤜🤛.
I agree. This is an important lesson to learn.
I have known some very wealthy people in my life, who would seem to treat homeless with as respect, as their wealthy friends.
All is one! Gracias

Yeah, it’s all in our way of thinking.
